This is the story of an effort that turns 100 years old. This one that is registered here, can be, in fact, the example of many of them.

Everything exposed up to here, constitutes the image of a history written based on work, tenacity and that confidence in the future that only provides the magnificent incentive of continued effort. It is the image of a man's will. It is also the image of the effectiveness of an entire team and is, in short, the image of a progressive philosophy applied to commerce, to the industrial activity of our country, and based mainly on full confidence in the fruits and rewards that provides the job.

In 1921 José Antonio Ponce Alvins conceived the idea of ​​creating his own business. "A House of Representations". His capital for the moment: the desire to work. His driving force: faith.

On June 8, 1923, Ponce & Benzo was founded at the corner of Dr. Díaz, in Caracas, Venezuela as a result of a partnership between José Antonio Ponce Alvins and his great friend Miguel Ángel Benzo.
In 1924 they separated, the parties agreeing not to change the name of the company, because although it was not known, the stamped stationery would be lost.

The first trading firm to represent Ponce & Benzo was the Albertmale Export & Import Co of New York. Others such as Coleman in (1930), Dixie Cup (1933), Miles (1936), Mentholatum (1957), Bovril (1957), Mead Johnson, Abbott, Wyeth, Tampax (1937), Scott Paper, Kolynos, menen, etc.
In 1933, Ponce & Benzo established its first agencies in the interior of the country, in cities such as Maracaibo, Barquisimeto, Puerto Cabello, Valencia, Coro, Ciudad Bolívar, Valera, San Cristóbal, Mérida and Cumaná.

In the 1940s, Ponce & Benzo launched the most extensive range of products in its history in the Venezuelan market, with more than 100 representations, mostly American companies.

Many of these represented firms, due to the success of their products in the local market, decided to set up their own plants in Venezuela. Others partnered with Ponce & Benzo for the manufacture or distribution of their products. Among them, Thousands from Venezuela, for the manufacture in our country of the Alka Seltzer brand.

In 1943, the first Ponce & Benzo own building was inaugurated, built especially for the service of the firms.

On June 17, 1948, José Antonio Ponce Alvis established Laboratorios Ponce CA, for the manufacture of its own items. one of his greatest ambitions. With the desire that his eldest son (who at that time was a pharmacy student) would have his own business upon graduation.

In the 1950s, the second generation joined: on January 2, 1951, José Antonio Ponce Betancourt as pharmacist in charge, and on June 29, 1959, his brother Luis José Ponce Betancourt in the cosmetics area.

In 1963, 40 years since its creation, it is recognized as one of the most thriving companies in the country and inaugurates its new and current headquarters in Santa Eduvigis, in accordance with its expansion needs.

In the 1980s, Ponce & Benzo strengthened the marketing of its products in the cosmetic and mass consumption category. The third generation of the family is incorporated, led by Eng. José Antonio Ponce Sardi, who, with the support of a team made up of the staff and members of his new generation, has the most arduous task: the responsibility of continuing .

In the 1990s, Marketing, Strategic Planning and the creation of the Research and Development department made an important difference in the marketing of brands and in the administration of the company.

Today Ponce & Benzo has managed to give value to its own and represented brands due to its extensive distribution network, the integration of a highly qualified team, attention to customer needs and consumer knowledge; thereby becoming "The Experts in Comprehensive Care".
